A two-day National Level Workshop on “Redesigning of Commerce and Management Education” was organized in Sri Ramakrishna Degree and P.G. (Autonomous) College, Nandyal under the aegis of the Department of Commerce and Management.

Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Principal and Correspondent of the College presided over the Inaugural Session and emphasized the need for redesigning the Commerce and Management Education in conformity with the changing needs of the Society at large in the era of globalization. To suit the needs of employment market and entrepreneurial requirement, periodic redesigning, re-structuring is the need of the hour, he said.

The former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, Prof. Sivaraj Patil observed that the academic institutions, especially, Universities have great role to play in redesigning the Commerce and Management Education. Citing the examples and experiences of U.S.A and China, he reiterated the continuous and regular redesigning of pedagogy of Commerce and Management. World is changing and accordingly the dynamic subjects like Commerce and Management need a new look and the academicians in Board of Studies and Academic Senates have to have a thread bear and brain storming in-depth discussions and redesign. Proliferation Information Technology, Computer Knowledge is to be resorted and be made part of Commerce and Management Education. Interdisciplinary approach is another dimension; especially the tools of quantitative sciences like Statistics are to be part of Curriculum. Prof. Patil emphasized the active involvement of students, faculty and administrators in academics.

Commerce and Management are ever changing subjects and there is a need for ever monitoring and restructuring of the syllabus. Academicians from Osmania University – Prof. P.B. Apparao, Prof. Prabhakara Reddy, Rayalaseema University – Dr. G. Ramakrishna, Sri Krishnadevaraya University – Dr. Ch.Krishnudu among other college and University faculty took active part. This is a two-day workshop aimed at redesigning Commerce and Management Education.

Prof. G. Chandrasekar Rao, Director of the College, opined that Commerce and Management Education and Knowledge will necessarily lead to the overall development of the Nation and hence this workshop. He wished that the workshop will prove to be light bearing and fruit bearing.

Younger students of M.Com. (P professional) and M.B.A of Sri Ramakrishna Degree and P.G (Autonomous) College took an active part and be part of the organization.
